This is it...my first post.
The reason I have started this blog is that I find by writing I am able to express my praise and thanks to God, as well as spend time with Him. I hope that God will use this to bless others. I titled this blog One True Foundation because scripture tells us; "Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain." Psalm 127:1
We are living through difficult times in our country. Wars, economic turmoil, leadership failures, abortion, divorce, violence and countless other signs of cultural decay. It is clear, we are no longer a "Christian Nation" but a pagan nation. We all worship something, however it seems that for fewer and fewer of us it is the one true God, Jesus Christ. Those of us who claim to follow Christ look more and more like the world all the time. Is it sin to watch TV, go to movies, get excited about our sports teams, go to the theater, dine out at fancy restaurants, drink expensive wine, read worldly books, etc??? We have great freedom in Christ to do these things, however, consider at what cost. Do we read our bible every day? Are we growing closer to the Lord? Are we serving the poor, the orphans, the widows? Our church? Our family?
Are we building our house in vain? If we are Christian, called by God to salvation, we must build our house on the one true foundation, Jesus Christ. Let's ask ourselves today, "What can I do to look less like the world?" Not because works or religion make us right with God, but because we are told to make our calling and election sure. Are you sure? Our savior poured out his blood on Calvary and rose from the grave to give eternal life to "All that the father gives me..." John 6:37
If we look like the world, talk like the world, live like the world and love like the world, chances are we are of the world. If you are afraid this is you, and you have not yet come to Christ in repentance and faith, what is keeping you from doing so today?
If you are sure of your salvation, commit yourself, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to build on the one true foundation. Examine your life and ask God to make you less worldly and more Holy. For his Glory!
Soli deo Gloria
